A bit of relax – or kind of…

After a long while, I managed to finally get some vacation. So I am spending some wonderful days in the beautiful “Chiantishire”, La colline del Chianti, in Toscana. I am really enjoying it. My darling is living here and managed to organize for me a beautiful stay in the countryside, in a lovely farm where goats, horses, chicken, dogs, cats and people live together in harmony. We met in Pontremoli last weekend and spent in the surroundings some days, then get to Chianti and soon moved on to reach Perugia. On our way, we stopped at Lake Trasimeno, where we found nice (even not beautiful) accomodation in a house: just a room and a private bathroom for 35 € in the “suburbs” of Castiglione al Lago. In the evening we decided to enjoy the dinner in a local restaurant: there are a lot in the historical centre of the town and it was not easy to choose one. We eventually decided for “La Cantina“, which had a nice terrace and seemed quite nice, with good choice at reasonable fares. In fact, the dinner was fine. We had a appetizer of mixed special dishes from Umbria, my darling had a dish of fish while I choose a portion of “gnochi al formaggio e tartufo”. We choose a nice and tasty white chardonnay and, as a final touch, I had a fine dessert consisting in a green tea pudding garnished with lavender flowers.

Quite nice, isn’t it? Well, yes, if it wasn’t that the following night I could not sleep, I felt a rock in my stomach and I had to throw up 3 times during the night and the moring. I felt so bad, we had to head back to Chianti where I could have had a rest. Still today, I am feeling bad, having my regular and frequent dates with the toilet and feeling like someone punched me hard in the stomach.

I will not tell you the restaurant is bad, just they tried to poison me! 🙂

The rest of the week was calm and relaxing, and I am actually feeling much better, yet not perfect, and I don’t feel like coming back to work! I even learned how to make goat cheese and I am having a really wonderful time. It was since a long while that I was not so relaxed and rested!

I wish you joy and luck! And better food at restaurants!

Mitakuye Oyasim!

Of life and death

Again, I must write about the departure of someone I knew. He was a friend, a collegue, a guy I knew since just 2 years but was already among the number of my friends. One of those person you don’t call everyday but when it happens, it’s like one year of no contacts fades away in a minute and looks like it never existed. Last Friday he was killed in a robbery at a Post Office in the town he was working as Carabinieri Officer. He tried to stop the robbers, to disarm them without risking to injure the other civilians who were present at the moment, but eventually he got shot on his neck and died shortly after.

I will never forget him. We have all to pay respect for men who risk their life for other people’s security.

Rest in peace, Marco. Meet you at the end of the path.

Facebook

Somehow, Web 2.0 is winning over me (and over many other people). Recently, I discovered Facebook and, of course, I started using it.

Now, I am confused! Social Networking is nice, but a lot of myself is on the net. I’d love to write something about digital identity. Maybe in the next days I’ll find some time to do it.

By now, if you feel like, visit my profile on Facebook, looking for my name and surname! 🙂 You surely know it!
